Ammonites are cephalopod fossils. They disappeared from the planet almost at the same time as the dinosaurs. Each one you hold in your hands is therefore more than 200 million years old. Throughout history, several symbolic meanings have been associated with this fascinating fossil: for the Greeks, it promoted a peaceful sleep; in ancient China, it protected against the evil eye,... Pliny the Elder referred to this Gem as "Ammonis cornua," meaning Ammon's horn, in reference to the Egyptian god Ammon, as he was often depicted with ram's horns.
