Peridot, like diamond, is one of the stones that forms deepest in the Earth's mantle. In ancient Egypt, it was attributed all sorts of mystical properties, including that of warding off bad dreams. They even nicknamed it the "Sun Stone." Strongly associated with volcanic activity, peridot rained down during the eruption of the Kilauea volcano in 2018.
