Optical Calcite, also known as Iceland Spar, is a highly transparent variety of Calcite known for a fascinating property: double refraction. When an object is viewed through Optical Calcite, its image appears doubled, a phenomenon studied by scientists since the 17th century that contributed to a better understanding of the nature of light. Historically, this crystal played an important role in the development of optics and continues today to fascinate with its unique ability to reveal multiple perspectives of the same reality.
