It gets its name from the ancient village "Khalkedon" located on the Bosphorus in Turkey. This gem was already used 4000 BC to create seals designed to protect important documents, their owners, and also money. Later, the Romans attributed to it the power to speak effectively while being calm. It is even said that Cicero wore a Blue Chalcedony around his neck during each of his speeches. Blue Chalcedony belongs to the large family of Quartz. One of its small peculiarities is that it is a micro-crystalline gem, which means that Chalcedony is not a unique individual but a multitude of small crystals that have agglomerated to create a stone.
