Gabbro is a plutonic igneous rock formed from the slow cooling of magma deep underground. It is mainly composed of calcic plagioclase and pyroxene, and may contain olivine, amphibole, or magnetite. Its texture is granular, revealing visible crystals. It is mainly found in the oceanic crust and in some mountain ranges in the form of ophiolites, remnants of ancient ocean floors.
