Born from the first forms of life on Earth, Stromatolite is a fossil structure formed by the accumulation of layers of sediment trapped by colonies of cyanobacteria. This process dates back more than 3.5 billion years and still exists today in the form of living formations, notably in Shark Bay in Western Australia. It is considered one of the oldest testimonies of life on Earth and an essential clue to the evolution of the primitive atmosphere, particularly thanks to the production of oxygen by these microorganisms.
