The name Turquoise means "Stone of Turkey" because this little treasure was brought to Europe by the Turks during the crusades. Turquoise was already worn in ancient Egypt. The mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamun was also set with several Turquoises. The Navajo people saw this gem as a piece of the sky that had fallen to earth.
