It gets its name from the ancient village of "Khalkedon" located on the Bosphorus in Turkey. This gemstone was already used 4000 BC to create seals designed to protect important documents, their owners, and also money. Later, the Romans attributed to it the power to speak effectively while remaining calm. It is even said that Cicero wore a blue Chalcedony around his neck during each of his speeches. Blue Chalcedony belongs to the large Quartz family. One of its small peculiarities is that it is a microcrystalline gemstone, meaning that Chalcedony is not a single individual but a multitude of small crystals that have agglomerated to create a stone.
