Agate Geode 𖢻 Courage & Luck

Gemstone: Agate.

When? For days when I need to remind myself that luck is on my side.

Dimensions: Approximately 5.7 cm long and 3.4 cm at its widest point.

The name Agate was given to this beautiful gemstone by the Greek philosopher and naturalist Theophrastus between the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. He had found this stone near the Achates river (now called Dirillo) in Sicily. The inhabitants of that time actually knew agate and already used it for decorative purposes but had not given it a name. Agate forms mainly in volcanic environments. A silica-rich liquid seeps into empty pockets within the rocks. Due to pressure and temperature conditions, a crystallization process will occur. Agate forms layer by layer. For each of the layers, some chemical elements will vary or change concentration levels. Thus, in this gemstone, colors and tones succeed each other to create stones with unique patterns and tones.
