When? For days when I turn my life into a film noir, even though it's just a slightly wobbly Tuesday.

Origin: Mexico.

The little extra: In ancient Mexico, obsidian mirrors were not just objects... but silent passages. Polished until they were as deep as night, they accompanied priests in their visions. They were associated with the god Tezcatlipoca, whose gaze seemed to pass through worlds. And in front of them, a strange sensation still persists today... as if obsidian never quite reflects the same thing.

Several peoples, including Native Americans, used it to make weapons because it is very sharp when broken. It is actually a volcanic glass.
