Tiger's Eye is a polycrystalline quartz, meaning it's composed of a multitude of tiny crystals, in this case, fiber-like. These can even be seen with the naked eye when you look at the stone closely. Its name comes from its resemblance to a tiger's eyes. It was already considered a protective gemstone more than 5,000 years ago. Tiger's Eye contains asbestos, which poses absolutely no danger through simple skin contact, but could have serious consequences if ingested.
