Agate Slice 𖢻 Courage & Luck

Origin: Brazil.

Dimensions: Approximately 18 cm long, 17 cm wide, and 0.6 cm thick.

The name Agate was given to this beautiful gemstone by the Greek philosopher and naturalist Theophrastus between the 4th and 3rd century BC. He found this stone near the Achates River (now called Dirillo) in Sicily. The inhabitants of that time actually knew agate and already used it for decorative purposes but had not given it a name. Agate is primarily formed in volcanic environments. A silica-rich liquid seeps into empty pockets within rocks. Due to pressure and temperature conditions, a crystallization process will occur. Agate forms layer by layer. For each layer, some chemical elements will vary or change in concentration level. Thus, in this gemstone, colors and tones succeed one another to create stones with unique patterns and tones.
