Discovered in the 1800s, it was named Unakite because it was first found in the Unaka Mountain Range in the southern United States. Unakite is actually a rock, meaning a mixture of several minerals, belonging to the altered granite family. It forms through both hydrothermal processes and metamorphism. Its appearance is quite characteristic: green, yellowish-green, orange, and pink intertwine to create a unique dance. It is primarily composed of Feldspar (pink-orange parts) and Epidote (green parts), sometimes with added quartz.
